The first rule you need to be familiar with when choosing a cordless drill is this simple fact-the battery you choose to power this tool will ultimately determine the strength and torque you will get. Obviously, the higher the voltage of the battery, the more power you can expect to get from your cordless drill. While this seems to be very exciting option, there are tradeoffs to be made with a higher voltage cordless tool. There is the burden of additional cost and additional weight if you are going for a higher voltage solution for your drilling needs.

My drill comparison showed many drills are now listed as drill drivers instead of just a cordless drill. Cordless drivers have a clutch. The clutch controls the amount of torque applied. When the preset resistance has been reached It disengages the drill driver's drive shaft making a clicking sound. By setting the clutch correctly you won't strip a screw or overdrive it once it's snug. So its important to pay attention to the clutch settings so you are able to take advantage of clutch and not strip the screws. Also, part of my cordless driver comparison is also to check the number of clutch settings each drill driver has.

It seems the Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks were prone to damage due to their prototype batteries. There are no reported fires or injuries to operators as a result of the damage. Chrysler is testing a li ion stock powered battery since the third quarter of 2011. The project was expected to run through 2014, but no plans have been made to extend the testing.

Avoid buying spares: Unlike wine and cheese, Li batteries do not improve with age. Avoid the temptation to buy spares, unless you use them frequently. Check the manufacture date, and never buy an old Lithium battery stocks, even if on sale.

When driving a pure electric vehicle; if the battery runs out completely with no charging stations available you will be stranded. With the long charge times, it will take some time to make the vehicle usable again. This is where the extended range Lithium mines Ontario Volt becomes more practical. Filling up the gas tank is faster than waiting for the battery to charge.

Some cordless impact drills are now using lithium-ion batteries which take a lot less time to get a full charge. For instance, I personally use a Makita 18V lithium-ion impact drill and it takes fifteen minutes to charge as opposed to my standard 18V Dewalt drill. The Makita is also equipped with a built-in LED light for illuminating areas with little to no light. The LED light feature in particular is one of my favorites.
